These delicious desserts have a very special ingredient: BACON.

  • Yields: 2 dozen

2/3 cup butter, softened

1/3 cup bacon fat

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large whole egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp table salt

12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup chopped, cooked bacon

1 tbsp flaked sea salt, to garnish

1In a large bowl, cream the butter with the bacon fat and both sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.

2Combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Beat into the butter mixture, making sure it is well blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and the chopped bacon.

3Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Drop or scoop the cookie dough by heaping tablespoons and place 2 inches apart on greased or parchment lined cookie sheets. Sprinkle with the flaked sea salt if desired.

4Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes or just until the edges are golden (the centers will still be soft). Remove to wire racks to cool.

Bacon in a cookie? Oh yes!
